Common Starling - Sturnus vulgaris


Sightings:

Ruffey Lake Park, Doncaster:  2016:  November.  2017:  January.

Notes:

An introduced species which causes issues by taking nest hollows from native Australian species.  The adults, as seen above, are attractively marked, while juveniles are brown, as seen below.

  1. One might think that suddenly looking at two different birds. Starlings are a little scary birds. Two winters ago, there was hanging suet bait very hungry starlings. Their eyes and nails were like a horror film;-))
