Comb-crested Jacana - Irediparra gallinacea


Sightings:

Cattana Wetlands, Qld.:  2015:  October.  
Yellow Waters, Kakadu National Park, N.T.:  2016:  July.  




Very long toes, seen above, distribute the weight of the bird, enabling it to walk on lily pads without sinking.


Only breeding adults have the large combs.  Immature birds have smaller, paler ones.  They are a northern bird.
