Notes:
One of the first birds I saw in Sri Lanka. It was fishing in the river/canal which bordered my hotel grounds.
Gave it a shake,
a pause for control,
and then it's ready to swallow!
The other bird was part of a mixed nesting colony in trees at the lake in Kandy where there were Great Egrets, Indian Pond Herons, Little Egrets and Black-crowned Night Herons as well.
