Common Bronzewing

Common Bronzewing - Phaps chalcoptera

A female Common Bronzewing.

Banyule Flats:  2016:  September, November.
Templestowe:  2016:  September, October, November.
Wilson Reserve, East Ivanhoe:  2016:  September, November.
The 100 Acres, Park Orchards:  2016:  October, November.
Glynn's Reserve, Warrandyte:  2016:  October.
East Doncaster:  2016:  October, November. 2017:  January.

Usually seen on the ground.   The amount of iridescence of the wing varies with the light hitting the feathers.

Males have a more colourful head than females as can be seen above.  I've twice seen one sitting on a nest, so they obviously share those duties.
