Yellow-billed Loon - Gavia adamsii
Sightings:
Kolyuchin Inlet, Chukotka, Russia: 2015: August.
Notes:
The yellow bill really stands out and makes these easy to distinguish.
They are a large bird, so landing isn't totally easy! This series of 3 illustrates that.
(Those shapes on the horizon are Sandhill Cranes.)
Later in the afternoon, we were so lucky as to see a pair displaying, but unfortunately not really close.
It seemed slightly unusual at what would be the end of the breeding season, but may not be.
