Its sunny and still today, and warm rather than hot which is nice!

It's hard to believe that 2016 is nearly over.

I've just added a page in the Overseas Pages for Cordilleran Canastero, a bird I saw in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile.

We had heavy rain yesterday afternoon so it's cooler today, but quite humid and sunny.

Processing photos helps to relive a trip!  Today's new bird in the overseas section is the Andean Flamingo which we saw in several places in northern Chile.

Seasons Greetings

We got home from our holiday yesterday, so rather jet-lagged then!  After a good night's sleep I woke early and went for a walk this morning.   It was lovely to hear, see and smell the Australian bush again, despite our trip being excellent.

I'm off on a holiday for the next few weeks and won't have regular internet access so just in case, have a very happy Christmas.

A Tawny Frogmouth family pretending to be stumps on a branch, their way of hiding, but the young one at the front has his eyes open too much.

It's been our coldest October for 8 years, and there was snow in the Otway Ranges overnight - a rare event at this time of the year.

I've just added Little Cormorant  and Black-hooded Oriole from Sri Lanka.

I've just realised that the Little Cormorant is the 200th bird I've done a page for - how many to go?????

Today started out with an overnight low of 17C but late this afternoon a strong westerly change came through and the temperature dropped to about 14.   Our spring has certainly been up and down, but mostly down.

Today is cooler with variable weather and a moderate breeze.  I walked at Jumping Creek section of Warrandyte State Park this morning and it was great to see some wildflowers, fungi and green again here after all the rain we've had over the last couple of months.  The Yarra River is fast flowing and high.

We're expecting winds up to 120ks an hour today so a day to stay inside.  First bird today is a Snow Petrel which must experience such winds fairly regularly as it makes it home in Antarctica!
